If you were forced to give up one sense, but gain super-sensitivity in another, which senses would you choose?
I would give up hearing, hands down no question. I lose it all of the time anyway so I think I would make it. I'll give you that there are some things I would miss dearly but it would be much easier than sight or taste. Not to mention I wouldn't have to avoid all of the annoying songs on the radio and in commercials. I wouldn't be able to hear the evil crap that comes out of people's mouths from time to time. Imagine how different my life would be if I had never heard someone snicker and call me a drunk when I walked away from my handicapped parking spot. Yes I would miss music and hearing the funny voices my family makes but I think I would adapt well.
In exchange I would love a super sensitive sense of touch. As someone who loses the ability to feel anything quite often I would love to finally feel what everyone describes to me. If you've ever gone shopping for sweaters after me there is a good chance that your sweater has been rubbed on the side of my face (you're welcome) because that's the only way for me to judge fluffiness. Wool blankets? Yep side of my face. Socks? Yep side of my face. Underpants???? No! Let's not be silly.
I would run around touching everything, and if I had decided to take up villainous behavior I would immediately dub myself the germinator. I would race from spot to spot spreading icky germs and other microbes from my newly sensitive digits. I would be the new cause of the common cold. What's the use of a silly super power if I do nothing with it? 🙂
