On more than a few occasions through the years there has been an incredibly happy lady seen wondering around Wheeler Historic Farm. She used to come more often, but even though the visits have dwindled her enthusiasm never has. I’m not sure wether she is intrigued by the history behind the farm,or if she just loves the idea of a place that demonstrates the life she envies but doesn’t live.
I promise that on more than one occasion I have seen her talking to the farm animals, of which there are many. When watching you can see a glimmer of hope that they may answer, but a sense of realism that she is mostly talking to herself. The good news is that the farm is now and always has been a working farm so there are animals galore for her to converse with.
While admittedly a city girl there is always a sense of peace and tranquility when wandering around the farm with her family. Sure the hub bub of the city is where she spends the majority of her time but it’s quite inspiring to see her out of her element as well. While her children are old enough that at times they would rather not be bothered with anything, they revert to playful children when in this setting. I’m sure there are trees and fields close to home, but something about this place makes them want to run, jump, climb and play 🙂
As if the farm didn’t have enough draw to begin with, they have a farmers market on Sundays. This may seem unimportant to some, but believe you me this lady loves herself a farmers market 🙂
I have often wondered what would keep her coming back to such a simple place, and then I remember something……. That happy lady on the farm is me, and I’m not often easy to explain…
