It has been said on a few occasions that I am really good at getting people lost in the mud. I could argue the fact, but why? I don’t mine tromping through mud it’s actually quite fun and on two recent occasions I went out of my way to show my family how fun it could be to be lost……
The first was Bell Canyon Reservoir when I just had to get to the waterfall. I have a deep love for waterfalls and I would climb through quite a bit to get to one. I’ll give you that with a bit of planning we probably should have gone the exact opposite direction of what we ended up taking. We got to the waterfall eventually but that was after I lead my family across a muddy hillside and back. Turns out what looked like the easy way was in fact the only way, who knew?
The second trip was not so muddy but we also never got to where we were headed either. I had decided that we should hike to the living room on a Friday afternoon to watch the sunset. This is a really popular idea so I figured it would be easy to find. Not so much…. Armed with a few printed instructions we headed out. While we never got to the living room we found and amazing spot to watch the sunset and eat the s’more treats that were prepared especially for the trip ( I should have taken a picture of them).
It wasn’t The Living Room, but it was perfect. We will get to the living room some day but if we just end up getting lost again, I’m fine with that too.
