For quite some time I have been in the market for a new camera. Earlier this year a few fabulous young men liberated my family and I of belongings (including my camera and favorite purse) that we had in our car. In other words, some little punks robbed us while we were at my son’s baseball game.
I have since then taken to using my phone for pictures which I am actually getting rather fond of, but I admit the limitations. My husband has recommended I get a better camera with more features, but I just don’t feel like I would use those features and therefore why pay the money to have them. My husband and daughter have a blast using the DSLR I got him for his birthday but I am so so on it. I would personally rather take the same pictures with my phone, get them home and play with them. I take OK pictures, but I MAKE awesome projects. I will never pretend that I have the talent or patience to take the pictures that my family and friends take, I shake too much and holding still for any amount of time is not exactly my forte. That being said I can sit and play with my editing apps for hours, and that is something I can do even if I’m laying in my bed.
Yes I have heard the argument for natural photos and I see the point, but I like mine better :). Truth be told this picture was blurry and crooked when I took it, but no one needs to know that…..
I know the difference in taking a good photo and editing, and under no circumstances do I consider myself a photographer. I’m not an artist either, just someone who found a way around a limitation, and found a new interest at the same time. So with the help of my little electronic sidekicks I have created some really neat memories for later in life.
